My name is Louise Plaster and I have had Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy since February 1992 as the result of a work related injury to my left knee. Over time my RSD has spread to include my entire left side. I have since developed residual problems with my right side because of posture changes and overuse.
Over the past seven years I have gone through many different changes because of RSD. Of all of the things RSD does, perhaps the most significant is the changes it brings to your life and basic lifestyle. While at first these changes can be very difficult, with the help, love, and support of others, the changes often prove to be beneficial changes overall.
In November of 1993 I became the director of the South Carolina RSD Association (SCRSDA) and started working with the Greenville RSD Support Group . Working with others who have RSD has helped me to learn to deal with my own RSD. I have found that we always help ourselves when we start helping others; especially once we learn and understand how to live and deal with RSD.
